Fabric Trim on Cuffs

These cuffs go great with the collars on my other page.

1.  Measure your cuff between the end of the buttonhole and the button.

2.  Cut a fabric strip 2" wide,  twice as long as your cuff measurement and add 1".  You can cut on the bias or on the straight grain.

3.  Lay the strip on your ironing board. Fold the long edges in so the raw edges meet in the center, wrong sides together -- like bias tape. Press, making a 1" wide strip.  I use a 1" bias tape maker to make my strips.

4. Lay the strip aside. Cut a fusible web strip 1/4" narrower than the finished strip and just as long. I use Wonder Under.

5.  Lay the finished strip, cut sides up. Place the fusible web strip over the raw edges and apply according to the directions with your web. Allow to cool, then peel off backing if necessary.

6. Fold the strip in half crosswise and cut on the fold.  You should now have 2 strips, each 1" wide.

7.  Turn under 1/4" on each end of your strips. Carefully press in place with the tip of your iron. You don't want to get your iron into the fusible web.

8.  Center one finished strip between the buttonhole and button on your cuffs. It should also be centered between the topstitching or edges of the cuff.  Steam into place following the directions for your fusible web.

9.  Topstitch in place using your favorite method.

Final note:  It is always easier to sew without a Chip on your shoulder.
